About Matthias

My name is Matthias Stosiek, and I am the owner of MGS Garden & Landscape. I bring over seven years of professional experience in the landscaping industry, backed by a lifetime spent working with plants and soil.

I grew up on an organic vegetable farm, where I was immersed in the vegetable and hand-cut flower business from an early age. That foundation gave me a deep respect for the land, an understanding of seasonal rhythms, and a strong work ethic. Landscaping became my first professional path, and years later, I’m proud to now be running my own business.

The majority of my professional experience was gained during four years with Heather Grimes Gardens LLC, where I progressed from team member to foreman. During that time, I developed extensive hands-on experience in:

• Habitat restoration

• Native meadows established from seed

• Naturalistic-style gardens

• Organic herb and vegetable gardens

• Historic gardens in Hudson, New York

• Native plant gardens

• Contemporary landscape design

Under the supervision of renowned natural pool designer Anthony Archer-Wills, I also assisted in the installation, management, and maintenance of natural swimming pools and ponds.

Beyond horticulture, I managed logistics and large equipment operations on and around job sites. This operational experience allows me to confidently handle large-scale installations and site development projects while maintaining efficiency and professionalism.

At MGS Garden & Landscape, I combine practical skill, ecological awareness, and thoughtful design to create landscapes that are both beautiful and enduring.
